Code of Conduct & Liability Waiver

By purchasing a class, event, or product from Skillette—whether in person or virtually—you acknowledge and agree to abide by the following terms and conditions.

Code of Conduct

At Skillette, we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community. All students, instructors, and staff have the right to participate in an environment free from harassment, bullying, and discrimination.

Harassment, bullying, and discrimination include but are not limited to:

  • Unwelcome remarks, gestures, or physical contact
  • Displaying or circulating offensive, derogatory, or sexually explicit images, including via email or the Internet
  • Offensive jokes or comments, whether explicit or implied
  • Verbal or physical abuse, intimidation, or threats

To maintain a safe and respectful space, Skillette reserves the right to remove any participant who engages in disruptive, inappropriate, or unsafe behavior.

Alcohol & Substance Use
While alcohol may be served at select Skillette events, we expect participants to drink responsibly and behave appropriately. We reserve the right to deny participation to anyone suspected of being under the influence of illegal drugs or excessive alcohol.

Liability Waiver

Assumption of Risk
Cooking involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Cuts, burns, slips, falls, and other injuries
  • Allergic reactions, foodborne illnesses, or ingredient-related irritations
  • Accidents involving knives, heat, and kitchen equipment

By participating, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with cooking activities.

Medical Conditions & Allergies
You are responsible for informing Skillette of any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary restrictions that may impact your participation. While we strive to accommodate dietary needs, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Personal Responsibility
You are ultimately responsible for the quality and safety of any food you prepare, cook, and consume—whether during class or afterward at home.

Release of Liability & Hold Harmless Agreement
By participating in a Skillette class or event, you agree to:

  • Release and discharge Skillette, its instructors, employees, and representatives from any claims, liabilities, damages, or legal actions arising from your participation.
  • Indemnify and hold harmless Skillette from any costs, damages, or legal fees resulting from your participation.

Photography & Videography
You consent to Skillette’s use of photographs, videos, or other media taken during classes for promotional, marketing, or educational purposes.

Governing Law & Severability
This waiver is governed by the laws of Virginia and Washington, D.C. If any portion is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.

By registering for a Skillette class or event, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
