Celebrate the legendary Julia Child in this unforgettable hands-on class that combines history, technique, and delicious food. Braising with Julia: A Culinary Tribute will teach you the art of braising through Julia’s signature dish, Boeuf Bourguignon, while honoring her incredible legacy.

This special class features guest speaker Paula Johnson, curator of the Smithsonian exhibition that features Julia’s kitchen and explores her contributions to American home cooking and author of Julia Child's Kitchen. Paula will share captivating stories about Julia’s life, her groundbreaking kitchens, and the incredible exhibition at the museum that preserves the very space where Julia revolutionized American home cooking.

Julia Child famously introduced Boeuf Bourguignon to American home cooks, bridging the gap between classic French cuisine and everyday kitchens. From her iconic kitchen to yours, Julia continues to inspire connection and creativity through food. In the same vein, we’re opening our Skillette kitchen to you, inviting you to experience firsthand the techniques and flavors that made Julia a household name. Together, we’ll honor her enduring ability to build bridges through our kitchens.

A Conversation with Paula Johnson: Begin the class with a fascinating talk by Paula Johnson, author of Julia Child’s Kitchen and curator of the Smithsonian exhibition that features Julia’s kitchen and explores her contributions to American home cooking. Paula will share insights about Julia’s transformative influence on tools, education, and home kitchen setups.

Hands-On Braising with Chef Rachel Bindel: Michelin-trained Chef Rachel Bindel will lead a hands-on session, guiding you through the essential skill of braising. Together, everyone will prepare and savor the iconic Boeuf Bourguignon, all while learning tips and techniques inspired by Julia herself.

Book Signing and Q&A: Each attendee will receive a copy of Paula Johnson’s Julia Child’s Kitchen and Paula will be available for a Q&A and will personally sign your copy during the event.
